Angels For Animals Foster a Dog

Fosterers play a critical role in the rehabilitation of neglected, abused and abandoned dogs. Whilst some dogs are able to go from rescue to forever home with minimal adjustment, there are many that would benefit from a foster placement before they are matched with an adopter.

Foster homes offer dogs in need a supportive home environment in which they can learn how to trust humans, how to play, how to walk on a lead, that they do not need to fight and scrap for food and survival.

As a foster you will offer dogs in need the chance to slowly transition from street life to sweet life and help increase their chances of adoption.

Foster FAQs

Q: How long are fosterers required to care for dogs for?

We cannot guarantee for how long a foster placement will be required. It depends on each individual dog – some dogs take longer to find a home than others. We ask that our fosterers be ready and willing to foster a dog for however long it takes to find it a home. If you are only able to act as a short-term foster, you can indicate this on your application form.

Q: What support will Angels for Animals Foundation provide?

We have Whatsapp group chats with our fosterers so that we can check in with them daily in the initial weeks. We encourage fosterers to contact us at any point with any queries or concerns. If behaviour or training support is needed, we offer fosterers access to our behaviour support team – please see the main FAQ website page for more information.

Costs-wise, we ask that fosterers are willing to cover the cost of food, toys, bedding and treats for their foster dogs and we will cover their veterinary care and any behaviour costs. If a fosterer is unable to cover the basic costs (food etc.), we will provide additional financial support if able to.

Q: Do fosterers for Angels for Animals Foundation have to have had prior fostering experience?

No, prior experience is not a requirement. If we think a dog might need an experienced fosterer, we will match it accordingly.
